Compact design. Powerful freedom.
The award-winning Z 8 brings the performance of the Z 9 into a much more manageable body, around 30% smaller than the Z 9 and 15% more compact than the D850. Inside is a multi-layer 45 megapixel CMOS sensor with exceptional dynamic range. The Deep Learning AF system recognizes subjects and eyes precisely, while the real-time viewfinder without blackout and the tilting four-axis monitor enable intuitive operation. Whether photo, film or both: the Z 8 gives you the freedom to realize every idea and reliably capture every moment.

Agility meets creativity
From quick projects to complex film sets: the Z 8 adapts flexibly. It impresses with 8K and 4K recordings directly in the camera, in numerous frame rates up to slow motion. Even under starlight, impressively detailed 45.7 megapixel photos are created. Separate menu interfaces for movie and photo provide an overview, and in portrait format the displays rotate automatically.

8.3K/60p, 12-bit RAW - directly in the camera
Nikon's N-RAW format enables high-resolution recordings up to 8.3K/60p or 4.1K/120p at only half the file size compared to ProRes RAW HQ. Numerous codecs are supported, including N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ, ProRes 422HQ, MOV H.265 and MP4 H.264, as well as recording modes in N-Log and HLG. When filming, the camera automatically creates Full HD proxies, which significantly speeds up the editing process.

Speed to perfection
With up to 120 frames per second at 11 megapixels or 60/30 fps at full 45.7 megapixel resolution, you won't miss a moment. AF and AE performance are fully maintained - without viewfinder blackout.

Precision for portraits
The color tone and brightness can be adjusted directly in the camera using the "Balanced portrait impression" function. Skin softening ensures natural results, while eyes and hair remain razor sharp - less post-processing, more creative control.

Ready before the shutter release
Thanks to Pre-Release Capture, the Z 8 captures up to one second before the shutter is released - ideal for spontaneous gestures and unpredictable moments.

Strong against the light. Safe in the dark.
The intelligent autofocus works reliably in difficult lighting conditions down to -9 EV. Faces are precisely recognized and focused even at night or against the light.

High-resolution 2x zoom in 4K
Filming with fixed focal lengths and still zooming? No problem: the Z 8 emulates a 2x optical zoom in real time - without any loss of quality and with three selectable zoom speeds.

Robust, lightweight and flexible
At around 910 g, the mirrorless full-frame camera is ideally balanced. Whether in the rig or on the gimbal, in combination with the MC-N10 remote control handle and other partner accessories, it remains easy to operate in any shooting situation.

Thanks to the comprehensive weather protection seal, it remains ready for use even in rain, dust or snow. Its cold resistance down to -10 °C corresponds to that of D6 and Z 9.

Protection and connections
The electrically conductive coating repels dust, while the fluorine coating makes it easier to clean the sensor. For additional protection, you can activate the camera's sensor protection, which closes automatically when you remove a Lenses, which closes automatically when you remove a Lens. When you turn the camera off, a VR lock holds the sensor securely in place to prevent it from slipping when traveling over rough terrain.

Two USB-C ports. Double memory card compartment.
Two USB ports allow you to quickly transfer files while charging the camera at the same time. The USB communication port supports USB-LAN and USB-C to Ethernet. The USB power supply port supports charging via USB-C. The dual memory card slot allows flexible shooting and storage on both XQD or CFExpress type B cards and SD cards.

More endurance with the portrait grip
The MB-N12 multifunctional grip offers better grip for portrait shooting, longer runtimes with two EN-EL15c batteries (up to 1.8× more) and can be used as a charger when not mounted. The batteries can be replaced when using the handle in operation.

Spitze!
Ich fotografiere mit der Z8 jetzt seit über einem Jahr und bin sehr, sehr zufrieden. Besonders gefallen mir der schnelle Motiv-Autofokus, der flexible Sucher, die Haptik und die flexible Funktionstastenbelegung. Der Stromverbrauch könnte etwas sparsamer ausfallen, aber dann nimmt man halt einen Reserveakku mehr mit.
