Whether for Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Leica or the many other camera brands - the Lens is the component that is actually important for the photo. It is much more responsible for the image quality than the camera body itself. Lenses are available in various different forms. Starting with the Fixed focal length the range extends to the Megazoom and from Wide angle over Macro- to the Telephoto lens. You are still undecided which lens is the right one for you?
On this page you will find all the important information and offers on our Lens for all cameras.

Lens accessories
A special adapter is usually required to combine lenses and camera bodies with bayonet mounts of different sizes.
Macro lenses become even more powerful with extension rings that lengthen the extension. A converter can also be used to increase flexibility by extending the focal length. Lens hoods reduce stray light and lens reflections and can significantly improve image quality. Lens hoods also protect against dust or rain.

Lenses for cameras
System cameras (abbreviated as CSC) and SLR cameras (abbreviated as SLR) offer the option of changing the lens so that the right lens is available for every photo moment without having to change the camera body. The Lens takes over the optical transport of reality to the camera sensor and thus significantly influences the quality through its properties. A better Lens therefore usually leads to a better image and offers more options for capturing a situation. For example, the light intensity is crucial for capturing blur-free images even in low ambient light. An image stabilizer integrated into the Lens can also help here. The image stabilizer compensates for slight movements of the hand and thus allows longer shutter speeds to be photographed from the hand. Together with the camera sensor, the light intensity is also responsible for how well objects can be cropped or how much the sharpness of the image can be influenced. The light intensity indicates the ratio of the optical diameter to the optical length of the Lens, which means that light intensity is often reflected in the price. Smaller numbers mean better light intensity. Fixed focal lengths often offer a very high light intensity at a relatively low price. Because they do not have a zoom function, they have a simpler design and often offer better sharpness and less distortion, especially at the edges. These advantages are of course accompanied by the disadvantage of a fixed focal length and thus the loss of zoom functionality.
Zoom lenses, on the other hand, cover a larger focal length range and therefore increase the versatility of a Lens. The wide-angle range is particularly suitable for landscape photography or in confined spaces, as the short focal length allows a very wide angle of view to be captured. The wide-angle range is followed by the normal range. In this range, the angle of view is very similar to human perception. Above this is the telephoto range, where the angle of view is further restricted. This increases the distance between the objects in the picture and gives you the feeling of getting very close to your subject - ideal for sports and animal photography, but also for portrait shots. With a macro lens, the distance between the camera and the subject can be greatly reduced so that detailed shots of plants or insects in particular are possible. The enormous variety of interchangeable lenses therefore always offers the opportunity to put the right subject in the right light according to the photographer's wishes.
Which focal length of a Lens is suitable for what?
Whether fixed focal length or zoom lens, each Lens has its own characteristics, which are essentially characterized by some core components:
- Number of glass elements
- Number of aperture blades
- Aperture opening
- Focal length
- Coatings of the glass
If you are looking for a Lens, you are increasingly looking for an angle of view or a new perspective, we would like to offer you some orientation below as to which focal length is best suited for which area of application.
The focal lengths for landscape photographers
Landscape photography includes both wide-angle and telephoto focal lengths. If you want to capture the vastness of nature on your camera's sensor, but perhaps also the details of the mountain, then a telephoto lens is an interesting option.
- Focal lengths of 16-35mm are particularly suitable for wide shots, and the lenses are usually available at affordable prices with an open aperture.
- The range of 100-400mm for details and the compromise on weight, in this focal length range there is everything whether zoom lens or fixed focal length. The advantage of a fixed focal length here is the weight and the open aperture, as well as the usually still quite good close focusing distance.
Charming portraits with the following focal lengths
Instagram and social media in general determine our everyday lives and have influenced photography more than ever in recent years. Vanlife and adventure on Instagram have popularized the 35mm as the new 50mm focal length. So which focal lengths should not be missing from your next portrait shoot?
- 20mm if you have a fashion shoot where you want to lengthen the legs with the lens curvature for high shots.
- 35mm, if you want to present a little more landscape / surroundings in your picture than is the case with a 50mm.
- 50mm always works, a 50mm Lens is usually very cheap to buy and usually offers the greatest potential to get into the fixed focal length addiction.
- 85mm for everything that should have a special depth of field. This is where the telephoto range comes into play, it increases the blur and this is why 85mm fixed focal lengths are usually considered the kings of bokeh.
- 135mm are very rare here, as they are usually very heavy, but still have a great soft bokeh
Focusing on the animal, the perfect focal lengths for wildlife photographers
People are not the only focus for a portrait, animals can also be staged or photographed in their natural habitat. We have already written a detailed guide about this, but we would like to give you a quick overview here:
These focal lengths make sense for wildlife photography:
- 70-200mm - Flexibility & speed with a good open aperture, which can be extended to a focal length of up to 400mm when combined with the teleconverter.
- 400mm - Fast with 400mm, which can be combined well with a teleconverter and thus results in an open aperture 800mm or can be used as 400mm
- 150-600mm or 200-600mm, whether bird or deer, with a superzoom with up to 600mm it is possible to reach all animals in the surroundings.
The most important feature is probably the teleconverter, with which the focal lengths can be doubled.
Focal lengths for action and sports photographers
Sports and action photography is one of the fields of photography that places the greatest demands on equipment. The lenses must be able to focus quickly, withstand special weather conditions and have an open aperture so that they can keep the ISO value low even in the evening in the stadium or sports hall. In sports, focal lengths always depend on the type of sport, but we would like to give you some safe options that can be used in many areas of sports & action photography.
- 16-35mm, if you want to get close, but want the dynamic range to be even more extreme thanks to the wide angle.
- 24-70mm, the standard zoom is also suitable for sports, because the focal length range offers dynamics and the lenses are usually very well developed and equipped with high-performance focus motors.
- 70-200mm, this focal length is the sports zoom par excellence, because it offers the option of portrait shots, but also somewhat wide-angle shots, but not only that, it also offers the flexibility for distance to the sportsman. It is also suitable for extension with an extender, as in wildlife photography.
Another special treat is the Tamron 35-150mm, which covers portrait focal lengths, but also sporty telephoto focal lengths, with a very good open aperture and a fast focus speed.
The best image details in macro photography with the right focal length
The world of small things usually deals with special optics with a short focusing distance, which enable new perspectives and make small things appear really big!
- 50mm, usually an inexpensive entry, little distortion of reality, with a good magnification factor.
- 100mm, offers a particularly intense bokeh & free focus with a very good magnification factor.
