Compact width
Compact, wide-angle, powerful - these are the characteristics of the Loxia 2.8/21 mm super wide-angle lens. The lens design has been specially developed for high-resolution full-frame sensors of the mirrorless Sony α series. A system extension with the new ZEISS Loxia - in a focal length range that has a long tradition at ZEISS.

Despite its compact size, the super wide-angle ZEISS Loxia 2.8/21 mm offers outstanding imaging performance - across the entire image field of a full-frame sensor. Whether architecture, landscape or even three-dimensional close-up subjects with an expansive background - this focal length perfectly complements the Loxia lens family with a wide angle of view. An indispensable extension for wide-angle lovers to capture the richness of detail of a moment in a photo or film.

The ZEISS Loxia lenses were specially developed for cameras of the Sony α7 series. This means that you can combine the advantages of the latest mirrorless full-frame cameras with the creative possibilities of "classic" photography with manual focus.

Last but not least, ZEISS Loxia lenses have everything you need for video recordings of the highest quality - e.g. the unique DeClick feature for continuous adjustment of the aperture.

Design
When image angles reach extreme sizes in SLR systems, the distance between the rear lens and the image plane must be significantly greater than the focal length - the original field of application of the Distagon type. This elaborate retrofocus design can also be used excellently with modern highly corrected Lens with longer focal lengths.

Features

DeClick function
A completely new function of the Loxia lenses is the ability to "de-click" the aperture locking mechanism with the supplied tool via a set screw on the bayonet surface. In video applications, an unplanned difference in brightness during camera panning can thus be continuously compensated. This function can also be used with other video systems that are suitable for adaptation due to their favorable dimensions.

Precise manual focus
Operating a Lens manually means controlling the image result from your fingertips. Ergonomics is everything. The ZEISS Lens impresses with a large rotation angle that enables precise focusing to the point. Changes are immediately visible in the viewfinder. The high-quality focusing mechanism is smooth-running and has no play, thus additionally supporting the intuitive play with the focal plane. The precise engraving in meters and feet as well as the depth of field scale offer additional help when focusing manually.

Virtually distortion-free optics
Dramatic perspectives and the view from unusual angles - ZEISS Lens open up new creative possibilities. Distortion would disturb the composition, as straight lines whose image does not pass through the center of the image would appear curved. This disruptive effect is largely compensated for by sophisticated optical designs for all focal lengths.

High-quality all-metal mount
Tangible quality and high value retention qualify ZEISS Lens for decades of intensive use. The high-quality all-metal mount, the non-slip metal focusing and aperture ring and the robust front bayonet and filter thread ensure an inspiring photographic experience. In addition, a special sealing ring on the bayonet protects the interface between camera and Lens.

Comprehensive compatibility
The ZEISS Lens is suitable for Sony Alpha digital cameras and has been optimized for film and sensors up to the full 35 mm format (24 x 36 mm).
