Fujifilm enters a new era and launches new products

Today Fujifilm introduced three new cameras, including the long-awaited GFX 50S, a mirrorless medium format camera with an outstanding 51.4 megapixels. Furthermore, the X-T20 is a new system camera and the X100F is the fourth generation of the Fujifilm classic. With the new medium format camera, the new GF lens series, consisting of three Fujinon lenses, enters the product portfolio. But also the new 50mm Fujinon Lens for the X series with an aperture of f2 is not to be missed.

FUJIFILM GFX 50S

We have known since last year that Fujifilm is working on the GFX 50S, a compact mirrorless medium format camera, but the manufacturer has not yet revealed much. Now it's out: the new benchmark in medium format will be available from the end of February 2017 and is priced at 6.999,- Euro for the body.
Although the price may seem high at first glance, the GFX 50S can certainly be compared with the Hasselblad X1D, which is priced at an impressive 9,400,- Euro.

Fujifilm's main features are a new 51.4 megapixel G-format sensor (43.8 x 32.9mm), an X Processor Pro (the same as found in the X-Pro2 and X-T2), a 117-point contrast autofocus system and a high-resolution electronic viewfinder with 3.69 million pixels and a 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen. The camera is splash and dust proof and has the ability to shoot video in 1080p resolution at either 24, 25 or 30fps. As the camera has been developed from the ground up, Fujifilm has introduced the GF series, which currently consists of three matching lenses:
A Standard lens with 63mm f2.8 (35mm equivalent: 50mm)a Standard zoom lens in the range of 32-64mm f4 (35mm equivalent: 25-51mm) and a medium telephoto lens with 120mm f4 (35mm equivalent: 95mm) .
The lenses will be priced at a respectable 1,599 euros, 2,499 euros and 2,899 euros. more information about the Fujifilm medium format lenses

Fujifilm X-T20, the affordable little brother of the XT-2

Fujifilm has also introduced a fast system camera with 24.3 megapixels and 4K video support. The X-T20 is the worthy successor to the X-T10 and impresses in every respect. The old 16 megapixel sensor has been replaced by a 24.3 megapixel X-Trans III CMOS sensor, which can also be found in the recently released, somewhat more professional XT-2. In combination with the X Processor Pro, the autofocus achieves a speed of 0.06 seconds, and 4K recordings with up to 30fps are also possible.
In comparison to its bigger brother, the X-T20 has a touchscreen display, which allows the user to focus with a simple tap of the finger. Fujifilm has packed these great new features into an extremely handy body, just like the X-T10. This makes it easy to stow the camera in a small bag. The camera has the same 2.3 million pixel electronic viewfinder and mechanical dials as the X-T10. It also impresses with its classic charm and user-friendliness. Other features include built-in WiFi, all kinds of creative filter effects and support for all X-system Fujinon lenses. There is not much missing when you look at the Fujifilm X-T20, especially the high durability and the swiveling touchscreen display should be just as interesting for many ambitious photographers as the price. At just 899 euros (without lens), this is less than half the price of the X-T2. The Fujifilm X-T20 will be available in black and silver/black in the coming weeks.

Fujifilm X-T5 - Fujifilm X-T2 successor

  • 40 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 5HR sensor
  • Viewfinder 0.8x, 3.69 million dots
  • 100 fps blackout-free EVF
  • 6.2K/30P, 4K/60P video recording
  • Face/eye and scene recognition
  • improved focusing accuracy for fine textures

Fujifilm X100F

At the same time as the launch of the X-T20, Fujifilm is presenting the successor to the X100T, the X100F. F stands for fourth. The X100 is already in its fourth generation.
Much has changed since the foundation stone was laid in 2010, but one thing has remained unchanged; the classic look of the camera.

Fujifilm X100VI silver - X100f successor

  • 40.2 Megapixel
  • X-Processor 5
  • FUJINON 23mm f/2.0 II (35mm Equiv.)
  • Video recording 6.2K - 30 fps
  • IBIS image stabilizer (up to 6 stops)
  • 3.69 M-dot OLED Hybrid Color Viewfinder/ OVF
  • 1.4x / 2.0x Digital Teleconverter (50mm / 70mm)
  • Shutter speed: 1/180,000
  • Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, USB type C
  • weatherproof (in combination with the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and PRF-49 protective filter)

But what is so new about the camera? Like the X-T20, the X100F now also has the X Processor Pro and boasts a 24.3 megapixel CMOS III sensor with a 91-point autofocus system. The main focus is still on the optics. The X100F impresses with a fixed 23mm lens with an aperture of f2. It also features a further developed hybrid viewfinder, which combines a purely optical and a purely electronic viewfinder. The user can switch between the different viewfinder modes directly on the camera using a lever.
In addition to the main innovations, there are also some smaller functions that open up new possibilities for the user. For example, there is a new movie mode that allows several movie simulations.
An interesting change is the battery. Fujifilm now also uses the NP-W126S Battery, which is used in almost all Fujifilm cameras. This means that Fujifilm is continuing to work on avoiding the battery chaos that occurs with other manufacturers.

The X100F is probably the most significant model update since the introduction of the X100 in 2010, because it impresses with improvements in usability, speed and not to forget image quality, but remains true to itself in terms of professional standards and classic design. It is an ideal companion for photographers who want to be able to take a high-quality photo at any time without having to take all their equipment with them.

The camera will also be available this February for €1,399 in black and black/silver.

Fujinon XF50mm f2

In parallel with the introduction of the three new cameras, Fujifilm is expanding its range with the Fujinon XF50mm f2 the compact and lightweight lens, with a maximum aperture of f2, offers great speed and great bokeh. In combination with the new sensors of the X cameras, outstanding image quality is achieved. The weather-sealing allows the photographer to shoot in frosty temperatures down to minus 10 degrees Celsius, in light rain or in a dusty environment. The lens will be available in silver and black color variants in February 2017 for 499,- Euro. more information about the Fujinon XF50mm
