General Concept
The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF is a 500mm super telephoto lens that uses catadioptric optics with a constant aperture of F8. The Lens offers a compact alternative to standard telephoto lenses as more and more photographers are looking for equipment that is easy to carry. With active travel photographers shooting landscapes, wild nature or outdoor birds in mind, the 500mm F8 Reflex MF was designed as a compact and lightweight mirror lens - a lens type that is being rediscovered in the new era of compact but high-tech mirrorless cameras. The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF uses a T-mount standard (pitch 0.75mm, thread 42mm) that allows the lens to be attached to any camera using mount adapters.
The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF is suitable for travel photography, as the Lens is compact and lightweight, yet helps you capture distant subjects that standard zoom lenses cannot reach. This Lens is best suited for various photographic genres, such as landscape, people, street photography, macro photography, wild nature and even sports!

Optical Construction
The long 500mm focal length of the Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF, while being compact and lightweight, is achieved through a catadioptric optical construction.
Mirror lenses are telephoto lenses that incorporate a combination of lenses and mirrors to reflect light back and forth between the ends of the lens. This structure folds the light and cuts the tube length in half. In this way, the physical size of the Lens is only about one-third that of a conventional lens and allows for a lightweight body because the mirrors are much lighter than the optical glass.

Rediscovering the Lens with Mirrorless Cameras
SLR lenses were once considered unfashionable and inconvenient because they have a fixed aperture, must be manually focused, and lack image stabilization. We propose to rediscover the advantages of SLR lenses by using them with modern mirrorless cameras.

Easy to focus
Focusing aids like Focus Peaking help find the sharpest focus point.

Less camera shake
You can forget about blurry images due to handheld camera shake thanks to the advanced multi-axis image stabilization systems built into mirrorless cameras.

No more slow shutter speeds
The latest mirrorless cameras with advanced wide ISO settings give photographers the ability to choose a faster shutter speed with minimal pixel noise in the image.

Key Features
Compact and Lightweight
The outer barrel of the Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF has been made thinner through new processing technology, making this lens even lighter compared to a shorter focal length lens.
The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF has a super telephoto focal length of 500mm and weighs only 310g (without adapter), making it easy to carry in a pocket or small bag. For travel photographers who value lightweight equipment, this feature is very valuable.

Optics
The lens elements inside the lens are coated with a multi-layer anti-reflective coating for effective light penetration, resulting in faster shutter speeds in low-light conditions.
The mirrored surfaces of the lens elements are coated with a highly reflective silver coating and a protective antioxidant layer on the back to extend the life of the product.

Macro photography
The field of view is 4°8' (at image diagonal) and the minimum distance is 1.7m. With a magnification factor of 1:2.86, a full-frame image of an object measuring 6 x 9 cm can be captured. These features help the photographer to avoid shadows or to avoid scaring the insect in close-up shots.

Specific Bokeh
The optical design of the Lens provides a special donut-shaped and particularly smooth bokeh that appeals to many fine art photographers.

Super Compression
Thanks to its long focal length, the Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF can produce images with super compression effect, where the background is close and magnified compared to the main subject. This effect gives the image an enchanting atmosphere.

Lens hood and filter
The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF comes with a lens hood and supports 72mm (front) and 30.5mm (rear) filters. This allows the photographer to use any creative filters for artistic purposes.

Versatile Mount System
The Tokina SZ SUPER TELE 500mm F8 Reflex MF features a T-mount standard (pitch 0.75mm, thread 42mm) that allows this Lens to be attached to any camera using mount adapters.
