RODE VideoMic GO Ultralight shotgun condenser microphone
The VideoMic GO is ideal for HD hobby filmmakers who want to enhance their original sound with the proven RØDE transmission quality to match the high-quality image, at a low price, without complications and without much previous sound engineering knowledge. With its standard hot shoe adapter, it can be mounted quickly and securely, plugged in and then immediately ready for use - no switches, no settings, no battery, no parts to lose and, at 73 g, super light!

Unlike internal camera microphones and not least thanks to the patented red lyre mount from Rycote (incidentally the "Rolls Royce" among manufacturers of film sound accessories), the VideoMic GO is optimally decoupled from mechanically caused interference signals, motor and handle noises are effectively defused by the "lyre". The actual targeted sound waves, i.e. the useful signal, are recorded in high resolution by the VideoMic GO's 1/2" condenser capsule and then pre-amplified for the camera in a suitable and noise-free manner.

Designed as a shotgun microphone, the VideoMic GO has the desired high attenuation of laterally incident sound waves, and the sound is always recorded perfectly on the axis of the respective image section - provided that the flash shoe is mounted in the middle. Of course, the VideoMic GO can also be used away from the camera if required, whether for interviews with a handle or boom pole or on a small table tripod; for this purpose, the typical 3/8 inch thread is embedded in the base of the flash shoe adapter.

Conveniently, the supplied spiral cable is plugged into both the microphone and the camera, so it can never be accidentally and damagingly torn out of the microphone's electronics. The condenser capsule of the VideoMic GO is also supplied with its power supply via this special three-core cable, directly from the camera's microphone input. Most current DSLR models and GoPro cameras provide this 2.5 V with the necessary current.
