PENTAX K-70 The small SLR camera with great features in a weatherproof design
Reliability is one of the most important requirements for a camera. It has to work when it is needed. And often under conditions where many cameras are better left in the bag. The PENTAX K-70 delivers such vivid and high-resolution images, even under the most demanding shooting conditions.
Whether under a blue sky, in the gentle rain or under a dark starry sky - the PENTAX K-70 captures the beauty of nature in great and unique photos.

PENTAX K-70: A camera that brings you a variety of new experiences and discoveries, and helps you master even the most demanding situations, especially in the outdoors.
Outdoor-friendly design that pushes the boundaries of photography in extreme conditions.

High reliability - proven in rigorous product tests.
The particularly small body of the PENTAX K-70 has 100 seals and is therefore optimally protected against the ingress of moisture or dust. This means that this camera can withstand everyday use in the urban jungle as well as in tropical areas, on a beach vacation, on safari or on a Greenland expedition.
In combination with the AW or WR series Lens, this provides optimum protection against environmental influences.

The working environment is a particular challenge for a camera, especially in cold temperatures. The PENTAX K-70 is designed to work reliably despite cold environments down to -10°C. This means that you can rely on the mechanics, electronics and stable battery voltage even in icy conditions.
Even though the camera has special seals, we recommend that you always keep the camera dry and dry it off quickly after shooting.
Battery performance deteriorates in icy temperatures. In these cases, we recommend carrying a spare battery at body temperature.

The newly designed grip offers a secure and firm hold - even when wearing gloves.
The PENTAX K-70 has been designed with great attention to detail to ensure optimum comfort and maximum functionality. The four buttons of the four-way controller and the control dials are designed so that they can be operated safely even when wearing gloves.

Easy dust removal from the sensor
The PENTAX K-70 is equipped with a highly sensitive and reliable AF sensor. Even poorly lit subjects are recognized at a light value of -3. Even the human eye has difficulties here.
The image sensor of the PENTAX K-70 has a special coating that makes it difficult for dust to adhere. Should dust nevertheless form on the sensor, it can be removed using the original PENTAX Dust Removal function by high-speed vibration of the sensor.

Remarkable imaging performance at high light sensitivity
The PENTAX K-70 has a new module, the "Accelerator Unit", which optimizes the camera's noise performance. In conjunction with the PRIME MII processor, image noise is reduced to a minimum.
Much more important than a new maximum sensitivity value is improved image quality in the usual sensitivity ranges.

APS-C CMOS sensor without low-pass filter and an effective resolution of 24.24 megapixels
The K-70 does not have a low-pass filter in order to improve sharpness performance. This means that the resolution of 24.24 megapixels is perfectly utilized.

Low-pass filter simulation - to avoid the moiré effect and false colors
Optical low-pass filters are used to avoid false colors and moiré effects. The low-pass filter simulation achieves exactly the same effect. It does this by causing the camera sensor to micro-oscillate as required. You can choose between two intensities. You can also specify that the simulation should only be activated for the following three shots. It is then automatically switched off again.

PRIME MII image processor - The most powerful image processing. For your best pictures.
Our extensive know-how in the field of digital photography and image processing has gone into the development of this image processor. It represents the sum of our experience and was originally developed for our medium format flagship, the PENTAX 645Z. Now it is also used in the K-3 II. Its outstanding performance delivers extremely high processing speeds and unparalleled image quality.

Housing-integrated Shake Reduction - image stabilization with many functions
The PENTAX K-70 incorporates the 3D image stabilizer developed by PENTAX. Gyro sensors on the image sensor detect horizontal, vertical and depth shifts and compensate for these by counter-movements of the sensor. The performance of the individual components now offers protection against camera shake of up to 4.5 light values. Thanks to the stabilizer integrated into the Body, the function works completely independently of the Lens used. All PENTAX lenses, lenses from other manufacturers and also adapted lenses can be used with this function.

The camera has a sensor shift function with the "Image section adjustment" function. Using sensor shift, the effect of a shift lens can be simulated in 24 steps (1.5 mm in total) in both the horizontal and vertical directions. The eight-stage horizontal correction (+/- 1°), which can be used to adjust the horizontal alignment of the sensor, works with the same technology.

Panning detection
The K-70's Shake Reduction function is also active during camera panning. The gyro sensors analyze the camera movements, reliably identify horizontal and vertical panning movements and control the sensor accordingly.

Fine and extra sharpness - improving the sharpness performance with special functions
Width and thick contours often disturb the sharpness impression of the image. Fine focus makes the lines narrower and the extra sharpness function increases the contrast of the lines. Both functions increase the impression of sharpness in the images.

Compensation of blurring caused by small aperture
The PENTAX K-70 effectively compensates for distortion, vignetting and lateral chromatic aberration.
Blurring caused by selecting a small aperture is compensated for by the camera. Depending on the Lens, approx. 2 f-stops are gained with this function.
This function can be used with the DFA, DA and DAL series Lens. This correction also works with Lens, with a few exceptions.
High-Performance AF system for sharp and brilliant images

Universal LCD monitor - monitor brightness to suit the surroundings
The PENTAX K-70 offers options for the brightness of the LCD monitor for special lighting conditions.
This enables image control despite bright sunlight. And in the dark, the illumination can be dimmed accordingly. Astrophotographers will appreciate the red illumination of the Graphic User Interface.

Classic SLR technology for subject control
The PENTAX K-70 has a glass pentaprism viewfinder, which is also used in the top models, such as the PENTAX K-3 II. With an image field of 100% and a viewfinder display of 0.95x, it offers optimum possibilities for image composition - independent of electronic influences. The high-quality coating ensures a brilliant image display that corresponds 100% to the original. Especially in this price segment, there is no better option for image composition.

High-speed AF operation during Live View shooting
For the first time in a Pentax K camera, a hybrid autofocus system is used for Live View - for both photo and video recording. In addition to a contrast detection sensor, phase comparison metering ensures fast and precise focusing. The new hybrid autofocus provides significantly more convenience, especially for video recordings.

Swivel monitor - for perfect image control and photography from unusual perspectives
The swivel 3-inch LCD monitor, with a resolution of 921,000 dots, allows the exposure to be checked in parallel with the setting. At the same time, the hybrid autofocus offers many options for focusing. The monitor is also an important part of the "On-screen Graphic User Interface" (GUI). All important functions can be carried out here without having to go to the various menus. The display can be calibrated and the font color and size can be changed individually.

SAFOX X - Fast and reliable autofocus system even for low light conditions
Eleven sensors, including 9 cross-type sensors, form the basis for fast and precise distance measurement. In the dark, these are supported by a focus light to deliver reliably sharp images even in the worst conditions, from a light value of -3. For fast action photography, the camera's automatic auto-tracking function recognizes the subject at an early stage and constantly refocuses so that there is no further delay at the moment the shutter is released. On the other hand, the focus can be set individually using a separate AF lock button.
Several options are available for focusing. Depending on the requirements, the photographer can choose between 5-area or 11-area metering, spot metering, auto-tracking or manual focus area selection.

High speed shutter with 1/6,000 sec. shutter speed - outdoor also often means activity
With a shutter speed of 1/6,000 sec., which is unusual for this class, shots can be taken of even the shortest moments, for sport, family or leisure.

Automatic detection of difficult lighting conditions
In addition to the conventional programs: Program (P), Time Priority (Tv) and Aperture Priority (Av), the PENTAX K-70 offers new functions such as the original PENTAX Sensitivity Priority (Sv) and Time and Aperture Priority (TAv). This allows for greater creativity and flexibility in exposure control.
In addition, the K-70 has a very wide exposure compensation range of +/- 5LW.

In addition to spot and center-weighted metering, the PENTAX K-S2 has a 77-point metering system. Based on the distance measurement and the sensors, an optimum exposure measurement is determined here.
The camera also offers center-weighted or spot metering.

Exciting picture series of up to 40 shots at up to 6 fps
The PENTAX K-70 offers high-speed continuous shooting of high-resolution images with 24 megapixels and 14 bits with a frame rate of up to 6 shots per second. And up to 40 JPEG images in a row, so you won't miss a single moment or facial expression of an action sequence.
So you won't miss a thing - simply select the best image afterwards.

Better image quality thanks to revolutionary "Pixel Shift Resolution"
Due to the design of conventional sensors, missing RGB color information has to be interpolated because it is not captured by all pixels of the sensor. The PENTAX K-70 offers the possibility of taking 4 shots in a row, in which the sensor is shifted up, down, left and right. The camera calculates an image from four individual images, which is saved as a JPEG or RAW file. Thanks to this innovative technology, all 24.24 megapixels are used in the image, resulting in significantly better sharpness and color reproduction as well as less image noise.
The image stabilizer shifts the image sensor by one pixel step at a time. After four shots, each individual pixel has stored all the information of the RGB color space. By bringing this unique depth of information together in one image, the ultimate high-resolution photos are created with low noise.

ASTROTRACER - astrophotography made easy.
The function of the optionally available O-GPS1 astrotracer works hand in hand with the shake reduction module. This cooperation ensures that the image sensor is synchronized with the movement of celestial bodies during a shot. The GPS receiver calculates the earth's rotation and precisely tracks the image sensor. As a result, stars do not appear as stripes but as dots during long exposure times.

Bulb - Timer function - pre-programmed long exposures
With the timer function in B mode, long exposures of between 10 seconds and 20 minutes can be pre-programmed. Up to 5 minutes can be selected in steps of 10 seconds. In the extended range between 5 and 20 minutes, steps can be programmed in 1 minute intervals.

Quick control over freezing of movement or depth of field with Hyper Program or Hyper Manual functions
The PENTAX K-70 is equipped with a front and a rear control dial. This allows quick and easy control of exposure values without taking your eye off the viewfinder.
The Hyper Operating System allows quick and uncomplicated correction of exposure control.

White balance - For authentic color temperatures
The white balance function of the K-70 provides appropriate presets for practically all lighting situations. With the Multi Auto WB feature, the camera records the color temperature separately for each image area.
The CTE setting is particularly suitable for impressive images with dominant colors, e.g. sunsets or lush natural greenery.

Versatile functions to create unique images
Choose your own color characteristics according to your own style or desired image expression.
The PENTAX K-70 offers a choice of 13 Custom Image settings. Depending on your creative requirements, select color characteristics that support the image effect.
Further parameters can be changed within the preselected settings

"Clarity control" and "Skin Tone" image setting - to optimize the texture in the image
The "Clarity control" function is an image processing tool that improves or adjusts the surface structure. It supports the clarity of the sky or water, or optimizes the shine of metal surfaces.
Nine levels between -4 and +4 are available for this.
In conjunction with automatic face recognition, the "Skin Tone" function corrects the colouring of faces. The skin is captured softer and in a pleasant color tone

USER Mode - Personalize your Kamea
The more demanding the photographer, the greater the desire to individualize the operation of the camera. Frequently used setting options on the PENTAX K-70 can be stored as pre-settings in three user programs. In addition, various buttons and functions can be individually programmed. For example, in addition to two function buttons, the quick menu can also be customized as desired.
Dramatic images with a very high contrast spread are the hallmark of HDR images. If you use the optionally available Astrotracer, this is the optimum setting for capturing astro images with the full range of colors, and without rendering black areas merely faded.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) - true-to-life reproduction of light and shadow
No device is as perfect as the human eye, as it enables colors and details to be recognized between sun and deep shadow.
The HDR (High Dynamic Range) function of the PENTAX K-70 provides a very high-contrast image, which is very similar to what the human eye sees. This results in images with sometimes very dramatic effects (Advanced HDR). This function can be adjusted in many options and adapted to the respective subject. This function can be used directly from the hand and without a tripod, as the camera automatically corrects the position.

Up to 20 filter options give images a personal touch
A particular highlight are the 20 filter functions, 9 of which are already available for shooting. Various color filters or "trick filters", such as miniature, pinhole or star filters, each of which can be varied, expand the possibilities of photographic creation.
Countless other functions are available for post-processing. Many filters with setting options allow individual image design that can otherwise only be achieved with an image editing program. It is even possible to develop RAW data directly in the camera.

Perfect alignment thanks to a sophisticated alignment aid
The K-70 has information for aligning the camera. In addition to the digital spirit level, a "Jet Display" can be shown on the monitor to align the camera perfectly horizontally and vertically.

For perfect image alignment
The Shake Reduction unit in conjunction with alignment detection enables the camera to detect inadequate horizontal alignment and correct this automatically during shooting. A correction of up to 1.5° is possible.

"Auto Picture" and "Scene" programs
Simply turn the program selection dial to AUTO and press the shutter release button. Photography couldn't be easier. The Auto Picture program, which makes the settings for different shooting situations, ensures perfect results.
The camera also offers 19 Scene programs, which not only set the time and aperture, but also perform additional image optimization.

Creativity is not neglected when shooting video either
Use the characteristic advantages of your SLR camera to create impressive Full HD videos. Use the full range of highly developed lenses available to you. From fish-eye to super telephoto. You can also use special camera functions such as recording mode and digital filters. Stereo sound is even possible with an external microphone.

The PENTXA K-70 also offers new functions. Focus tracking is also available for video recordings. For this we recommend the very quiet Lens: smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL[IF] DC WR or HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE, so that the focusing noise does not interfere with the sound recording.

In addition, the K-70 offers automatic aperture adjustment for the first time in order to achieve a balanced exposure. This makes use of the new electromagnetic aperture control, which is made possible in conjunction with the new KAF4 bayonet mount of the HD PENTAX-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3ED PLM WR RE.

Star Stream video recording - Phnatastic star videos
This function is used to record star trails. You can create exciting 4k videos by using fade-ins and fade-outs.

For documenting longer periods of time
Interval recordings are a good way of documenting longer time sequences. Using the 4K video function, you can record videos at programmable intervals and combine them at the end to create a video in 4K resolution.

Simple image transfer
The "Image Sync" app allows you to operate the camera with many important function settings. This app also allows you to preview and transfer images.
This app is currently available on Google Play (for Android) and in the iTunes Store (for iOS).

Wireless camera control - control the camera with your smartphone or tablet
Control your camera via smartphone or tablet: view your photos, make changes to the camera settings, see the Live View image on your mobile device and trigger the camera shutter from there.

Integrated RAW data development - get the best out of your photos
Develop your RAW data without a PC - with the K-70 this is possible without any problems and is then saved as TIFF or JPEG files. A wide range of tools are available for RAW development, such as changing the white balance or adjusting the exposure mode parameters.

Lens
With a focal length range of approx. 27-82.5 mm (crop factor 1.5x), this lens is the classic standard zoom lens. Due to its compact dimensions and small size, the DA 18-55 mm WR is particularly suitable as a constant companion.

Always with you is very important for a camera, because how often do photographers leave their camera in their bag to protect it from sand, dirt, dust or water?

With PENTAX cameras, the photographer has long been in the front row when it comes to adverse conditions, especially as the high-quality lenses of the smc DA* series do not hold back.

The new WR Lens are each equipped with 6 seals and are ideally suited as a constant companion.

This new wide-angle zoom lens is equipped with the new PENTAX proprietary SP coating. SP stands for Super Protect. This fluoride coating, based on nanotechnology, protects the front lens against dust, grease residues (e.g. fingerprints) and simplifies cleaning of the front lens.

Product description for Pentax K-70 + DA 18-55mm WR
