  • UV/IR blocking filter
  • Allows only daylight to pass through
  • Especially for digital and video cameras
  • Color neutral
  • No extension factor
  • Can also be used as a protective filter
  • MRC coating
  • Made in Germany

The B+W BASIC 486 UV/IR blocking filter has steep-angle absorption against unwanted UV and infrared components

It prevents color casts and blurring in digital cameras whose IR blocking has residual transmission in front of the image sensor. This is not achieved by absorption via glass tinting, but by interference, a multitude of extremely thin partially reflecting layers of precisely calculated thickness. The B+W BASIC 486 UV/IR blocking filter is colorless clear and requires no exposure extension. It can also be left permanently on the optics as a protective filter. The B+W BASIC 486 UV/IR blocking filter is MRC coated.

TIP
The B+W 486 UV-IR blocking filter works optimally with Lenses up to 60° angle of view. However, the principle of such an interference filter has a physically determined image angle-dependent color influence and tends toward the blue as the angle of incidence increases, i.e. with wide-angle lenses from an image angle of more than 60°, the color rendition at the edge of the image tends toward the bluish.
