5 reasons for the Canon EOS R5C
A test report by Daniel Ernst
The photographer and videographer Daniel Ernst has tested the Canon EOS R5 C. In this video, you can find out which advantages he discovered with this camera, especially in direct comparison to its predecessor, the EOS R5.
Canon EOS R5C
- 45 megapixel
- 8K cinema-quality full-frame video
- incredible 45-megapixel photos
- up to 20 frames per second
- fast, precise and reliable focusing
- extensive professional shooting formats and tools
- a compact, lightweight design with active cooling
- a wealth of connectivity options
1. The perfect hybrid camera
The Canon EOS R5C is the perfect hybrid camera: In the photo area, it has inherited all the important features of its predecessor, but is also a real cinema camera, which is also super compact and handy.
2. Weight and form factor
In terms of form factor, the EOS R5 C is particularly impressive due to its compactness. It fits very well in the hand and is only slightly heavier than its predecessor, despite the many technical features. With its bright, rotatable and tiltable 3.2 inch LC display, even shots from unusual perspectives are possible without any problems.
Above all, the camera's cooling system is new and innovative: With the integrated fan, heat is dissipated via an outlet on the back. Thus, nothing stands in the way of high-quality videos with a long recording time.
3. Image stabilization
With the R5C, Canon does away with the IBIS built into the EOS R5. Instead, the R5C offers an electronic 5-axis IS, which can be optionally added and works perfectly together with the optical IS of the RF lenses.
4. Different shooting modes
In its function as a hybrid camera, the R5C is equipped with a second Cinema menu in addition to the familiar Photo menu. A compact dial can be used to easily switch between these two menus in a matter of seconds.
In general, the camera offers a wide range of setting options and shooting formats. For a higher dynamic range, the camera also allows C-Log 3, PQ and HLG recording. Professional tools such as Waveform Monitor and False Color Display are available.
5. The autofocus
Another special feature of the R5C is the autofocus. This recognizes heads, faces and eyes so unerringly and reliably tracks them on demand. Even when the subject turns away from the camera. The face-only autofocus is perfect for interview situations, for example, and switches off automatically as soon as the subject leaves the picture.
